Audiometric equipment
Audiometric equipment are electroacoustic devices used in the medical field for the purpose of diagnosing hearing disorders. These devices typically present accurate acoustic stimuli to the patient and record the response.
What do we cover
The standards issued and maintained by WG10 specifies a minimum set of features for different types of audiometric equipment. The necessary accuracy of these devices is also specified as well as methods to verify it.
WG10 does not cover electroacoustic devices outside the medical field nor does it cover hearing aids.
Why is it important
Standardisation is necessary to ensure accurate and reliable measurements of hearing disorders irrespective of the device model being used for that measurement. It allows the comparison of measurements obtained with different devices.
